Could Jose Mourinho return to Real Madrid?

Florentino Perez has refused to rule out  Jose Mourinho return to Real Madrid, with Rafael Benítez future remains unclear.

Jose Mourinho, who left Real Madrid for Chelsea in 2013, was sacked by the Premier League side on Thursday. After falling out with the senior figures of Los Blancos squad he left the club with mutual consent and joined Chelsea for his second time in his career.

On his return to Stamford Bridge,  Jose Mourinho initially signed three years contract and then was rewarded with new 4-years deal, after leading the Blues to the Premier League Title. But former Real Madrid boss was sacked by Chelsea on Thursday, in the aftermath of latest defeat at Leicester City which left them a point above the  relegation zone. According to reports Jose Mourinho lost the Chelsea dressing room, and Roman Abramovich decided to part company with the Portuguese.

With Real Madrid struggling under Rafael Benítez, there are reports Jose Mourinho could set for a shock Real Madrid return. The Spaniard is under the huge pressure, following Sunday’s 1-0 defeat at Villarreal, and according to the Spanish media he has been given ultimatum, if Real Madrid lose another game he will be sacked.  Los Blancos are currently third in the La-Liga standing and 5 points adrift from the top.

Florentino Perez has backed Benítez to stay, however he admitted any thing could happen in the future.

“No-one can predict the future, but right now no [Coach] is coming to Madrid,” he told Cadena SER.

“Benitez is capable of solving the problems we have. We’re only considering him as an option.

“I have very good memories of Mourinho. He raised our competitive level.

“It wasn’t a dark period. With him, we returned to where we belonged.

“It’s not true that the players don’t get on with Benitez. I speak with them and no players want the Coach to leave.”
