Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane lauds the defensive shift put by Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale against Barcelona, and hoping BBC will carry this on for the rest of the season.

“The three of them are working well. Sure, you can ask for a lot more in defence, but they are doing their defence role,” Zidane explained, AS reports.

Gareth Bale claimed it is an honor to play for Zidane, and feels he has improved his game since moving to Real Madrid.

We knew any team that reached the quarter-finals would be difficult,” he said.

“We want to play. We’re going out to win both games and hopefully we will.”

“I feel I’ve become a better player. When you come to Madrid you know the history. I saw it as a child,” he recalled.

“To have contributed is incredible. And I want to contribute more, to win more European trophies and to add more to the trophy cabinet.

“We’re a little down in the League but we know we’re in a good position in the Champions League and we’ll fight to the maximum for every game. Hopefully that will take us where we want to be.

“I remember when I signed for Madrid [Florentino Perez] told me to win La Decima. It was nice to do that in my first season. Hopefully there’ll be more.

“It’s been a tiring season, with little injuries that have interrupted me, especially when I was playing very well.”

“It’s an incredible experience [playing under Zidane], he was one of the best players in the world,” Bale admitted.

“Having him as Coach is an honour. He’s proving what a great Coach he is. I’m really enjoying working with him and hopefully he continues.”
