Why Pep Guardiola apologized to Cristiano Ronaldo?
Former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola apologized to Cristiano Ronaldo for crashing his dream of facing Benfica in the semi-finals, as Bayern Munich progressed in to next round of Champions League.
“I know that Cristiano would have liked Benfica in the semi-finals, I am sorry for him,” the coach said to reporters after the game.

“According to what I have read in Germany, if we do not win the Champions League my work will be incomplete in fans’ eyes,” he said.
“But in the end, us coaches are here to win titles and win as many games as possible.
“I have never won as many games in my life and I don’t think I can repeat it in the future.”

Ronaldo, after leading to the Champions league Semi Final, said:
It’s complicated. Atletico are better in defence, hard to score against. Barca are at the moment the best in Europe. It’s hard to say. Those two are very complicated. I’d like Benfica, a Portuguese team. I’d love to play Benfica, in Lisbon.
Meanwhile, Benfica coach Rui Vitoria says there is no shame in losing to Bayern Munich and hailed the fighting spirit of his team.
“We fought until the end, so I have to congratulate my players and these amazing supporters,” Vitoria is quoted as saying by Uefa.com. “It was a great match.
“We faced a very powerful team that knows how to dictate the pace of the game. We promised we would go eye to eye with Bayern and we did so.”
Goalscorer Jimenez said :”I am happy I scored. We even had an opportunity to make it 2-0, but football is like this.
“We are proud of what we’ve done. We managed to level the tie and we are happy with what we’ve done, because we showed we can compete with any team.”
