Wales midfielder slams Cristiano Ronaldo despite his match-winning display in semi-final

Wales midfielder Joe Ledley slams Cristiano Ronaldo, despite his match-winning display in Euro 2016 Semi-final.

Ronaldo came over the top his Real Madrid teammate Bale after he scored opening goal for Portugal, and assisted Nani for the second to knock Wales out of the competition, but Ledley believes Bale is a better player than him.

“He’s one of those players who frustrates you,” he told reporters. “He’s never in the game compared to Gareth [Bale].

“He’s always in the game, always on the ball, always wanting it, always dribbling and always trying to do something.

“They were two crappy goals. Ronaldo’s shot was useless. Normally he hits them from there but he scuffled the cross for a tap-in.

“With the header, the guy can leap, but apart from that he didn’t really do anything in the game.”

“You can’t disagree with his ability. He’s a fantastic player, one of the best in the world. But we just had one of those days where things he did came off. He’s now in the final and you wish him well.”

Meanwhile, Toni Kroos thinks Germany put their display of Euro 2016 against France in their 2-0 loss on Thursday.

“I can’t blame the team, we carved out good opportunities. We had three or four excellent chances from headers but we fell further behind after a slip.”

We’ve played well during Euro 2016 but have been knocked out and that is very disappointing,” he said via the German Football Association (DFB) website.

“It’s a semi-final, there weren’t any stupid moments or silly mistakes. It’s not a fair result. It’s disappointing to go in at the break trailing as we did.

“Nevertheless, we still had the chance to bounce back but simply couldn’t score. They were clinical.

“If it had been 0-0 at the break, that wouldn’t have happened. After France took a 1-0 lead, it was easier for them.”
