Portugal streamed in their way to quarter finals, after drawing their 3 group games, and secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Croatia.

Speaking ahead of Portugal’s clash with Poland, he said “We have shown camaraderie and that we are all rowing in the same direction.

“I can certainly say that for me, this is the best time in the national team for the group that we have. This has been one of the factors that has proved that we are much stronger than before and we are in a good condition to go as far as possible.”

“I think we have played good games, like against Hungary, where we gave an attacking exhibition,” he said

“But it’s clear that it can’t always be like that. Our aim is to go as far as possible and if we need to sacrifice playing well in order to get a result, we will do so.”

“We know that Poland is a strong side, with experienced players, and we will have to be at our best to go through.”

Meanwhile, Poland goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny says he is unlikely to face Portugal on Thursday, despite of returning to the full training, with Swansea’s Lukasz Fabianski will keep his place in the side.

“It is difficult to say if I can go out and help the team with little more than one full training session completed,” he said. “I am able to deal with the pain, but the injured muscle is not perfect yet. I just want to help the team in whatever way I can.”
