Sergio Ramos explains why he wanted red card sooner in El-Clasico

Real Madrid Captain Sergio Ramos joked I’d have got sent off sooner”  in El-Clasico if he knew they will beat Barcelona with 10 men.

Ramos received his second yellow in the 83 minutes, but Ronaldo saved the day for the visiting side by scoring the winner in the dying stages of the game.

“We can’t be arrogant now that we’ve won,” the defender said after the game.

“The beauty of football is that it offers revenge, but we must keep our feet on the ground.

“Step by step [are we getting the fans back on side].

“The fans deserve this after so much suffering. it’s important that we arrive [at the business end of the season] at the best level.

“[This win] is a way of regaining confidence, a prize. We’re working very hard to achieve something important. This is the way forward.

“Madrid are obligated to win, and there are still many points at stake.

“The goal from Cris [Ronaldo] was for those who said he couldn’t score in these games.

“We did enough damage on the counterattack with one less man.

“If I knew that we’d win with one less man, I’d have got sent off sooner!”
