Real Madrid has issued a statement in support of under-fire Tennis star

Real Madrid has issued statement in defense of Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal, after he has been accused of covering up failed drug test by French sports minister.

Rafael Nadal, a long life Real Madrid fan has been accused of faking injury in 2012, when he missed six months due to his knee problems, and Roselyne Bachelot is claiming that he did this to cover up  a failed test.

Real Madrid has released a statement, which reads: “Rafa Nadal represents the fundamental values of sport. His greatness and his incredible achievements have always been based upon a foundation of exemplary conduct, unwavering work, talent and astonishing levels of commitment.”

While, Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has also defended 14-time Grand Slam champion.

“I feel bad for Rafa Nadal because he is a gentleman, a person that has shown the values he has and that everyone loves,” Zidane said of Nadal, who is an honorary member of Real Madrid.

“He is a professional and I know him a little. I feel bad for what they have said.

“He has to leave all this to one side and think that everyone who loves sport, loves Rafa Nadal, whether they be French, Spanish or American.”

Nadal, himself has rubbished the claims:  “I have never had the temptation of doing something wrong. I am very far from that, doping,” said Nadal.

Real Madrid has issued a statement “I heard it a few times again about doping…and I am a little bit tired with that.”

The Barcelona Open has also issued statement to stand with Rafa Nadal in the difficult time.

“The Barcelona Open expresses its full support for Rafael Nadal as a result of the malicious, unjustified and unacceptable statements made by former French Minister for health and sport, Roselyne Bachelot.”
