But, Figo says that things could change very quickly at Real Madrid if Los Blancos fails to win any piece of silverware at the end of season.

“I am very happy for Zidane that he is Madrid coach, both as a former team-mate and as a friend,” Figo told El Mundo.

“He is very shy but a super honest person and a very good professional. He’s a great friend and a symbol of Real Madrid.

“I think him becoming Madrid coach was a natural process. He always wanted to become a coach.

“I hope that he will remain Madrid coach for many more years, but the position of coach at Madrid is very unstable and it always depends on results. They change coaches a lot of times.”

Meanwhile, former Manchester City and Real Madrid striker Emmanuel Adebayor has admitted his loan spell at Spanish Capital under Jose Mourinho was the best spell of his whole career.

“It will not be easy to go through for the Blancos, especially playing at the Etihad Stadium. The Citizens have players like Aguero, Toure, Silva and De Bruyne.

“On a personal level, the experience at Real was a highlight of my career. With (Jose) Mourinho I grew up a lot.”
