Champions league winner reveals why he failed at Real Madrid

Chievo goalkeeper Albano Bizzarri discussed why he failed at Real Madrid, and also asked about the Los Blncos transfer target Paulo Dybala, in his interview with GazzettaWorld.

Despite of winning Champions League with Real Madrid at the age of 22, Bizzarri failed to impress during his brief spell at the club, and he admitted that he wasn’t ready to play for Los Blancos.

“I wasn’t ready for that environment. At 17 I was playing in an amateur league. I would study during the day and train at night. Then a family friend got me a trial with Racing Club. Four years later Real Madrid signed me, but I didn’t realise the grandeur of the club.”

“I began by making some mistakes and then Iker Casillas, who was 18 and the third goalkeeper, took my spot. He could handle with the pressure, but I was by myself and couldn’t deal with it. I was disappointed in a sporting sense as I didn’t play a lot, but I learned. I have no regrets, even though Real was too much for me.”

Bizzarrin was also asked about the progress of Paulo Dybala, who is attracting the interest of Real Madrid and Barca, as he is having extra ordinary season with Juventus. With Real Madrid transfer ban is temporary lifted, they can test the Italian Champions resolve in summer.

“I knew that he was ready to join a big club when he was a star at Palermo despite only being 21. He has character, and you can see that by how he asks for the ball. When I found out we’re from the same area [Cordoba] I started to follow him more closely. I spoke with him and he is a determined player. If he maintains this demeanour he will become a top player.”
