Carles Puyol advice for Gerard Pique and Alvaro Arbeloa

Carles Puyol advice for Gerard Pique and Alvaro Arbeloa

Former Barcelona defender Carles Puyol has advised Gerard Pique and Alvaro Arbeloa to stop their game, as they are setting bad example for kids.

I think it’s best if neither [Pique nor Arbeloa] continue this game because many children are watching, although the rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid will always exist,” he said at the Laureus Awards gala on Sunday.

“[Barca] are a great team who have had a very good season and a half.

“They’re in a slump, but they can still win the League and cup, which would cap a fantastic season. Many teams would love to be in their situation.

“I’m very positive [about the double] and I think we’ll succeed.

“[Luis Enrique] will keep going and players won’t lose any confidence. If they win their next games, everything will be back to normal. No team have won the Champions League twice in a row.

“I’ve seen [Dani Alves’ Instagram video] and all know is that Dani has a lot of respect for the club.

“He’s competitive, a winner and always given everything for Barcelona.”

While, Gerard Pique has insisted that Barcelona will win the La-Liga, folllowing 2-1 defeat against Valenica.

“We have zero concerns,” the defender said after the game.

“We deserved more, but we leave the game with our heads held high and we’ll win the League if we play like this, I’m convinced of it.

“These setbacks lead to great reflection, but you can’t stop. The team are doing what they did two or three weeks ago.

“We’ve exhausted our margin of error, but I’d rather play well and lose than win and play badly and I’m convinced we’ll do this.

“Psychologically, we’re well, and I leave [the game] with positive feelings. It’s still in our hands and we’ll move forward.

“We’re capable of winning five [games] out of five and we’ll need to.

“Although it’s a step back, mentally it’ll help the team as we played well and recovered the feelings of a month ago.”
