Brazilian legend: Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar only modern greats
Brazilian legend Pele says only Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar are the only great footballer of the modern ear, and suggested other players are ordinary.
“My memories are of Georgie Best, Bobby Charlton, Bobby Moore, and not forgetting Banks – Gordon was a proper great,” Pele told The Telegraph. “And that was just in England. All around the world it was the same, brilliant Germans, Dutchmen and of course Brazilians. Today you have just three great players in the world, [Lionel] Messi, [Cristiano] Ronaldo, and maybe Neymar. Maybe. But in that time there were so many.”

The three- times World Cup winner hailed the legacy of Barcelona legend Johan Cruyff, says Dutch maestro was only of the best player ever, who graced the football field.
“I had the opportunity to be a friend of his beyond the field. He was one of the best players in the world, ever. Cruyff, the ultimate midfielder. He was fantastic.”

Meanwhile, Alessandro Del Piero believes with Messi and Ronaldo on the peak of their career no other player will be able to win the Ballon d’Or, but has backed Neymar to break the cycle in the coming years.
“Neymar is still a very young player. While both Messi and Ronaldo right now are at the top of their career,” Del Piero told goal.com. “He has a great future ahead of him and a great chance of winning the Ballon d’Or. Definitely”.
The Italian legend refused to pick the sides between Messi and Ronaldo, says “it is too difficult to decide” and he would never answer this question,
“I have never answered this question in my life,” the 41-year-old replied. “it’s too difficult to decide. I would have to close my eyes and pick one. They are both incredible.”
