Karim Benzema is not guilty of wrongdoing in Valbuena‘s sex-tape scandal, according to an alleged blackmailer.

Real Madrid star was suspended from French national team, following his alleged involvement in the blackmail plot, with a decision still pending in the Court, Benzema was not selected for France’s Euro 2016 squad.

The French striker was accused of blackmailing his French teammate Valbuena, in order to extort money from him and threat to leak his sex tape if he refused his offer.

French media released and alleged audio conversation between Benzema and Valbuena, in which he told midfielder that can help him and make sure that his sex-tape will not be leaked if his demands are met.

However, Mustapha Zouaoui, who is one of the perpetrators in the case has clarified  that Real Madrid star contacted Valbuena with good intentions and only wanted to help him, a stance maintained by Benzema throughout the whole proceedings of the case.

“He made a mistake, he just wanted to warn Valbuena about the existence of a sex tape,” he told L’Equipe.

“[Benzema] really felt bad [when I told him about the video]. He told me Valbuena was very fragile and that he could kill himself. Even he didn’t want to see it.

“It was there [acting as a mediator] when Benzema made the mistake.

“Valbuena asked [Benzema], ‘did you see tattoos’, and Benzema replied, ‘you think I’m kidding? A guy came up to me, told me about the video and gave details about what you did. Frankly, it’s horrible’.

“The police treated it as a declaration of a criminal, when Karim wanted to help Valbuena.

“Benzema is very angry with me, but I didn’t put him in this on purpose. I didn’t know [the authorities] had our wires tapped.”
