Barcelona legend lashes out at Real Madrid for mistreating Iker Casillas
Xavi Hernandez has accused Real Madrid for misunderstanding Iker Casillas, and also discussed Barcelona‘s style of play.
Speaking to Jorge Valdano, a former Madrid player, Coach and sporting director, now a presenter for BeIN Sports, Xavi suggested that Casillas was forced out of Real Madrid.
Xavi believes that Los Blancos Legend was not only misunderstood by the club hierarchy, but also by fans .

“Iker Casillas was misunderstood by Real Madrid,” the Al Sadd veteran said.
“Even the call he made for the good of everyone, he was misinterpreted by madridismo [Madrid fans] or rather by ‘mourinhismo’ [referring to Mourinho].
“[On Barca’s style of play], Barca fans no longer understand other ways of playing, only that [Barca] are in control and create 15 or 20 chances per game.

“The fans don’t understand [other styles] anymore. To me, it’s now non-negotiable.”
The former Spanish International suggested that Real Madrid played like a small team mentality in their 2-1 win over Barcelona at Camp Nou.
Xavi feels style of play adopted by Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid would never be accepted by the Barcelona.
“Real Madrid played like a small team in the Clasico at Camp Nou,” Xavi told beIN SPORTS.
“A big team like Barcelona should not be playing like Atletico Madrid. Big teams like Barcelona and Madrid should always stick to their own style. You cannot start playing like Atletico.
“[Atletico coach Diego] Simeone perfectly sets his team up to counter their opponents’ strengths, but I don’t like to see teams who shut up shop at the back.
“Barcelona fans would not understand it if they were to change their style of play. They are used to it that Barcelona are in charge and create 15 to 20 chances per game. Barcelona’s style is non-negotiable.”
