Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has asked the fan base to back Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema. After they were both made the subject of mocks at the Santiago Bernabeu for their average performance against Malaga.

Both the French striker and the Portuguese Captain were highly under par against Malaga in their recent Liga clash. As both strikers missed a flurry of chances to score the goal.

The fans didn’t take the difficulty with kind hearts. As the Madrid crowd at the Bernabeu, known for their hot temper against their own players, made sure that the duo knew their dissatisfaction.

However, Los Blancos manager Zinedine Zidane, who himself had to face such offense from the Santiago Bernabeu crowd when he was a player. Now Zinedine Zidane asks Madridistas to back Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema instead of booing them.

“We must also have tolerance with the forwards. Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo have scored goals, maybe not in the last games. But I am not worried,” quipped the Frenchman.

On Saturday, as Real Madrid beat Malaga 2-1, Club Captain Sergio Ramos scored both the goals thanks to two headed corners. And both Benzema and Cristiano not at their best having missed a lot of chances to finish the game off earlier.

“We had opportunities to score more goals, but we got two and it is a fair result. We need to continue working as we have been. [It] is a good result in general.” Zidane said.

However, Zinedine Zidane wasn’t pleased that the Bernabeu crowd in the stadium took on their own players.

“You need the supporters to be peaceful and support the team. I can only request for everyone to remain calm.” The former Juventus player also knew that the fans will always need more, but that “sometimes the players and the managers need more support from their fans. Our fans are very demanding.”
