Zidane is set to replace Rafa Benitez?

Zinedine Zidane is in line to replace Rafa Benitez, according to former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon.

The ex Real Madrid chief was speaking to talkSPORT on  Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, he said  Benitez is having problem since former Liverpool manager has taken the charge from Carlo Ancelotti, which wasn’t welcome by Real Madrid players and fans.

Following Sunday’s loss against Villarreal,  Rafa Benitez’s future is up in the air as Florentino Perez is considering to sack him, and Calderon revealed Zidane will replace the Spaniard.

Ancelotti was doing well and the players were backing him. Now with results not as expected people are starting to get fed up [under Benitez] and the players seem not to be very happy.

“Having Benitez from the beginning was a problem. We knew this could happen if the results weren’t right. If he leaves, the man who will come in will be Zidane.”

However, Calderon believes, Florentino Perez should go for Spain’s head coach Del Bosque, as Zidane still needs to learn his traits to manage a club like Real Madrid

“Del Bosque proved to be a fantastic coach. He was with us all his life as a player and a coach. He won two Champions Leagues, he won the World Cup and the European Championship with the national team so he would be the perfect manager.

“I know the president doesn’t like him but, for me, he would be the right one. He knows the club well, he knows how things work. He did perfect at the time he was with. He would be the right manager, no doubt.

It is too early [for Zidane]. He has been coaching the second team in the second division – he lacks experience. But it seems that the president has decided to have him on the bench if Benitez leaves.”
