Former Belgium International Wesley Sonck says Real Madrid top target Eden Hazard is not the same level of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, and slams the premier league player of the year 2014-2015 for his underwhelming display this season.

The Chelsea winger was crucial to Blues’s title winning campaign last season, and earn the plaudits comparing Belgium International with  the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. But former Lille man has struggled to replicate his performance of last season, and looks like shadow of the player, who was the best player in the English Premier league by far.

While this season has been different story for Eden Hazard, as he has yet to find back of the net in 27 appearances in all competitions, and  Wesley Sonck has suggested that his Countryman is noway near the Barcelona ace and former Manchester United star.

“Hazard has been compared with Messi and Ronaldo, but I don’t think he is on par with them,” Sonck told Sporza.

“Those guys are machines when it comes to scoring goals and that’s what it’s all about in football. Hazard does not score enough, although he perhaps does have the abilities to score on a regular basis.

“The main difference with the best players in the world is that Hazard cannot always make the difference. He needs to make individual actions and he doesn’t do that often enough for a player of his quality.

“He has not even scored yet this season. That is quite remarkable. Other players can still score goals even when they are not in their best form.”
