“Everything can change in the Champions League,” Alonso said, AS reports.

“It’s a big goal for them as they have a very difficult League with the difference that separates them from Barcelona.

“Madrid, with the players they have, can beat any team in the world over two legs. They create a lot of chances and play good football so for me they’re one of the favourites for the Champions League.”

“I don’t know if they have an advantage, but they’re playing well, at least as good as last year,” he noted.

Joshua Guilavogui has admit he will teat clash with Real Madrid as Derby, having played for Atletico Madrid.

“I was part of the Atletico squad that beat Real Madrid 1-0 with a goal from Diego Costa, so why not aim to repeat that kind of performance?

“Of course we will need to defend well because they have such a strong attack with Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo, so we will need to defend really well and then play well on the counter.”

Julian Draxler talks about his experience of playing with Real Madrid legend Raul at Schalke: “He’s one of the best players I’ve ever played with. His time at Madrid was amazing, like Schalke. He was very influential,” he acknowledged.

“I learned a lot, not just football. He was 38, right? He knows a lot off the pitch. He’s one of the best forwards I’ve ever met and I tried to learn from him every day.

“It was an honour to play with Raul. He played 16 seasons at Madrid. He adores the club and its people.

“The best thing he taught me was chipping the goalkeeper. He gave me the key that when the goalkeeper approaches, to chip the ball.”
