The 26-years old has struggled to get the regular football at Real Madrid, is ready to quit the club, and Roma has identified Spaniard as their top target.

“I can confirm with certainty that Roma and other Italian teams have made a move for Nacho, showing great interest in the past few days,” Nacho’s agent Jose Segui told Tuttomercatoweb.

“But the operation is not simple to complete. Real Madrid hold Nacho in great esteem. They raised him from their youth system to the senior squad and they still consider him an important element for their back-line.

“Whoever wants him will have to beat the resistance of the Merengues, who still haven’t made up their minds on Nacho’s future.”

Zidane had successful spell in Serie-A with Juventus between 1996 and 2001, and Pjanic  is hoping to follow the footsteps of his idol.

“I will wear the number 5 shirt. Zidane was my idol and had that number. I’ll be proud to wear it,” Pjanic said at a news conference.
