The head of the French Football Federation (FFF), Noel Le Graet, says Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema has shown the attitude ‘like a donkey”, following his alleged involvement in sex tape scandal.

The Real Madrid striker was dropped from the National side, after he was accused of setting up blackmail plot extort money from France and Lyon playmaker Matieu Valbuena, as Karim Benzema threaten him to leak his sex tape. The French International has been charged with for attempting to blackmail and participating in a criminal conspiracy to blackmail his national teammate Matieu Valbuena.

Karim Benzema was suspended from International duty by the French Football Federation, and facing the prospect of missing European Championship which will be held in his  home country  in the summer.

Le Graet feels Real Madrid striker does not deserve the harsh treatment, and has defended him.

“Maybe I have protected Karim excessively in this matter, but I really like him and we all make mistakes. He got carried away by stupidity in this case. He has been stupid like a donkey. But I don’t believe in lecturing people.”

“There are good and bad people in all environments, among teachers, among businessmen, anywhere. Benzema comes from a difficult environment and he got carried away. Karim is a guy I really like. People talk to me about the way he expresses himself, but we take everyone as they are. Football is like that.”

While, Real Madrid manager  Zidane has warned France that they cannot afford lose Karim Benzema if they wants to win Euros, as he his irreplaceable.

“France cannot afford to ignore a player of Benzema’s calibre,” Zidane told Le Foot.

“When we look at his numbers and everything he does on the field, we cannot let a player of this level go.”
