Iker Casillas gives his take on former Real Madrid teammate Alvaro Arbeloa’s send off
Iker Casillas has paid homage to his former Real Madrid teammate Alvaro Arbeloa, but shed his disappointment that wasn’t given the same farewell the defender did.
Arbeloa will leave Real Madrid at the end of the season, after making his final appearance against Valencia at Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday where he was honored, in contrast Casillas left without being acknowledged for his long term association with his boyhood club, and Casillas revealed how he suffered during his last season at the Club.

“One of my former teammates, Alvaro, bids farewell to Madrid. I want to thank him for all he has done for the club. A youth team player, he had to go somewhere else to show he had the quality for Madrid,” Casillas noted in a Facebook post, AS reports.
“Every Madrid player deserves that kind of farewell, with their teammates and with the fans. I appreciate what he has given to the team and I wish him luck in the new phase of his life that’s opening.”

“I looked out for the interests of Real Madrid every single day.
“If I’d have looked after my own interests more we would’ve had a circus every day, especially in my final season.
“Someday I will tell you why I had to leave and when I write a book in 15 years, I will tell you.
“That bad relationship [with Mourinho] divided people,” he added.
“It was very uncomfortable because in the dressing room there were two people whose relationship was deteriorating.”
