Former Real Madrid star and Canada head coach Benito Floro has paid heartfelt tribute to Barcelona legend Johan Cruyff, who passed away on Thursday.
Speaking to the press conference, before World Cup qualifying match between Canada and Mexico Floro speaks about the legacy and his personal relationship with as manager and a rival, and gave heartfelt massage to pay ultimate tribute to the father of modern day Football.

When I was just starting my managerial career, I met Johan [Cruyff] during a friendly match in 1989,” he began.
“I found a person that I had admired as a footballer… I found an idol who was extremely humble, easy and more than willing to talk to.”
“When we were rivals, I at Madrid and he at Barcelona, our relationship was always positive and motivating as he would force me to think a lot on how to beat that great team.”

“He offered amazing detail to me during a very hard time when critics were against me,” he explained.
“[Cruyff] publicly defended me as a person and as a Coach and I know that he always had kind words for me in private as well.
“It’s the reason why my family and I have a special affection for him and we will never forget him.”
Real Madrid President Florentino Perez also hailed Barcelona legend Johan Cruyff, says “one of those people who should never die.”
“These are sad days,” he began.
“There are people who should never die and one of them is Johan Cruyff.
“He was born in the same year as me. I followed all of his life.
“He changed the history of Barca and football, not only in Spain but the world.
“He’s one of those people whose memory will live on forever.”
