Cristiano Ronaldo‘s former teammate and England International Rio Ferdinand says India need player like Real Madrid winger to build team around him.

The ex Manchester United star believes India has potential to make waves in Football, a Country where Football has become one of the most popular Sports in the recent years.

Rio Ferdinand cited the example of Cristiano Ronaldo and Chelsea’s legend Didier Drogba, who serves as the main man for their respective national side.

With  Didier Drogba has not much Football left in him, Portugal’s hopes are solely rely on Real Madrid star when they will go into European Championship in Summer.

The BT Sports pundit is in India along with his fellow colleague Robbie Savage, to be part of BT sports charitable initiative, and also have training and interactive sessions with youngsters.

“Both, Ferdinand and Savage are the ambassador of BT, are visiting India mainly focusing on the development of football talent  in the Country.

“Like Didier Drogba did for Ivory Coast and yes, Cristiano Ronaldo for Portugal, India need that one big player on whom they can build it around.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo has handed Manchester United big blow, by announcing he will stay at Real Madrid.
