Alvaro Morata says he has nothing to prove to Zinedine Zidane.

Alvaro Morata feels he has nothing to prove to  Zinedine Zidane, and must be valued at Real Madrid, following his move from Juventus.

Real Madrid exercised their €30m repurchase option on Morata, but Spanish striker has made it clear he will only stay at Santiago Bernabeu, if he is assured of first team football.

“I agree to be one more and fight for my place, but my desire is to be happy and at where I want to be,” the Spain international told Cuatro.

“I don’t have anything to prove to Zidane, I’m not a Castilla player who’s earned the opportunity of a preseason with Real Madrid.

I have nothing to prove to Zinedine Zidane, says Alvaro Morata

“[Madrid] will decide if I’m qualified to be a Real Madrid player. I will give everything to try to fight for a spot and, if not, another solution will be found.

“I’m not thinking about my future much because I’m here playing for the Spanish national team, trying to win a European Championship.

“At the moment I’m calm, and I’ll wait and see what happens. Right now, I’m a Real Madrid player and I can’t say anything else.

“I’d love to stay at the club, but I want to be important for the team and fight for my place.”

In these two years, I’ve learned more than I previously did in my entire life,” Morata, who had spent the last two years at Juve before rejoining Madrid earlier in the week, told Marca.

Morata was quick to praise Italy’s back three f Andrea Barzagli, Leonardo Bonucci and Giorgio Chiellin, ahead of Spain’s last 16 clash with Italy.

“Scoring goals in Italy is much more difficult. They are experts in defending.

“In Spain, you get seven clean chances to receive the ball and score. In Italy, you have only a few clear balls and must hit the target to score.

“Italy are always competitive and, like teams in Serie A, scoring goals against them is very difficult.

“[Buffon] is great in one-on-ones like Iker [Casillas]. He’s a legend in world football.

“[Barzagli, Bonucci and Chiellini] are the best defenders in the world for how they defend. Teams don’t want to play against them.

“When they play together as a three, it’s almost impossible to score a goal.”
