Will Cristiano Ronaldo win Ballon d’Or again?

Former Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti says Cristiano Ronaldo  will try hard to win Ballon d’Or again, but suggested Lionel Messi will make it difficult for him.

“I think Ronaldo wants to win another [Ballon d’Or],” the Italian coach told Goal. “This is a good motivation for him. He will try, I think, to do his best to win again.

“I think it’s the same with Messi. It’s very difficult to say who is going to win the Ballon d’Or next [between] these two players.

“Maybe it could be Neymar; he has fantastic skill. Could be James Rodriguez, could be Suarez.

“It’s very difficult, they’re at the top, they still continue to be at the top.

“I’m sure that Ronaldo… will fight to win [the Ballon d’Or] trophy again.

“Of course, he has the most difficult opponent, Messi, but I’m sure he will try to fight to win again.”

Meanwhile, ex Real Madrid man Michel Salgado believes that win in El-Clasico will be vital for Zidane’s men for their Champions League aspirations.

“If we beat them it’s going to be good for our state of mind, for the collective belief ahead of the Champions league. It would bring great belief to the team,” he told Goal.

“Sometimes one game changes everything in a season – it’s happened to me before and I hope it comes against Barcelona.

“Real Madrid have the players but it is not just now that they are missing something, it has been a long time. We know our style of football in last four years has been counter attack, and we lose control of games for long periods which is really bad for our team.

“We must find the balance in our strength of quick transitions and some certain control at some point – we have the players who can kill a game in five minutes.

“The coach will know better than I do, even though he has only been there two months. I hope he can build the team up in a positive fashion and make some good signings in the summer,” Salgado affirmed.

“If we do sign players we have to do so for the next few years, the pre-season is going to be crucial.

“We have to sign the right players, not just for one season but for the long term.”
