“Emotionally I’m still quite calm, as I’m known to have been in the past. But it’s something very, very special to have won the Champions League for a second time – with two different clubs. I would never have dreamed of this. I think it’s a very big deal.
I’m sure you will have an idea of what happened. The game was extremely important for us. It was our last chance to win a title – the biggest title of the season. We had an up and down season, so it’s amazing that we accomplished this win.

“No, I don’t have any issues. I think that I played a good game. The coach simply wanted to bring on someone fresh in order to secure our lead until the final whistle, which unfortunately didn’t work out. A goal is always possible. But the guys that were still on the pitch fought hard until the end and did everything for this victory.
“I think it’s noticeable that our entire game has improved enormously since January. He brought in new ideas and after our inconsistent phase, we found stability. We had a very, very good Champions League campaign.
Answering the question why his son not joined him in full time celebration with his other teammates families, Kroos said:
“I seeping at home as he should be! I think he is still a bit too young for that. And my wife is quite far in her pregnancy – so it wouldn’t have been a good idea.
