Sergio Ramos refused to name Spain as favorite for Euro 2016!

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has cool down the claims that Spain are favorite to win Euro 2016.

Having won the European title  for two times consecutively, La-Roja are on the course of becoming the first team to win Euros for three times in the row.

“I really want us to start well and spend the next few days preparing so that we can have another good [European Championship],” the defender told the Spanish media, AS reports.

“We must defend our trophy and play with great enthusiasm so we can have a good tournament.

“I’m looking forward to making more history because we have a great team and whenever there is a tournament of this stature, you become more motivated.

“We’ve become spoiled from winning so much, but you can also lose. There are some great teams and they’ve shown [their quality], so you always have to play with the utmost humility.

“When you lose and go through slumps, you must learn from them. This team, after major changes from the World Cup in Brazil, are raring to go for the Euros.

“Favourites aren’t a matter of the press or anyone. We’ve never liked favouritism and it doesn’t suit us. We’ll go step by step and we’ll see.

“[On Isco’s absence], I have special affection for him, not only because he’s my teammate but also as he’s a great friend.

“I would’ve liked to have been here with him, but there is a lot of competition and very good players here and sometimes you have to experience bitter moments like these.

“I see Croatia as a very complete national team in every aspect and there’s always a surprise package who are underdogs but arrive when it matters.

“Now we have to analyse our rivals. It’s been an unforgettable week but I have to change my mindset, plus think about the national team and having a good championship.”
