Real Madrid can still manage to reach Champions League semifinals
Real Madrid will receive Wolfsburg at the Santiago Bernabeu next Tuesday, April 12, with the idea of trying to overcome the bad results reaped on Wednesday in Germany. The White side is hoping, with the support of the fans, for sixth consecutive Champions League semifinals to be a fact. In fact Real Madrid has not fall into the quarter-finals of the Champions League since 2004, against Monaco.
The last six years, Real Madrid has reached the quarter-finals and surpassed. In 2011 they did against Tottenham, who won at home 4-0 (0-1 in the return). In 2012 they beat APOEL, who won 0-3 in Nicosia and then 5-2 at the Bernabeu. In 2013, Real Madrid thrashed 3-0 at Galatasaray and lost 3-2 after at Istanbul. In 2014, the Dortmund fell 3-0 at the Bernabeu and then won 2-0 in Germany and last season the whites won 1-0 from Atletico Madrid after a goalless draw at Calderon.
In all cases, the common factor has been that Real Madrid has won the match at the Santiago Bernabeu, whether it was in the first leg or second leg. The white team is more than capable of achieving the necessary score to be in the Champions League semifinals and make the dream of their Eleventh come true. The fact that second leg is at the Santiago Bernabeu favors Los Blancos as they would be sure of what to do to make it to the semis.
