Pepe says  Atletico Madrid President  Enrique Cerezo, after he prematurely asked Atleti fans to celebrate before the full time whistle.

“We worked well with [Rafa] Benitez, but things didn’t go well with him and Zidane gave us another go,” the defender said after the game.

“He put a lot of trust in us, was close to the team and understood the dressing room very well. He gave us the necessary tranquillity to finish the season well.

“I’m happy to help my team and give joy to madridismo, so that they can celebrate La Undecima after a tough match, with a lot of wear, which was very tough mentally.

“It was very hot and we worked very hard in the two weeks before the final.

“We started very strongly and Atletico didn’t have a single shot on goal in the first half, but they tied our work and made it very difficult for us.

“Real Madrid fought back by being together, and when we had the ball we gave everything for the badge to be champions.

“Atletico’s President talks too much. What if he went to the Neptuno at 11…

“He could’ve gone but only to clean it because there’d have been nothing going on there. Everyone would’ve been at Cibeles [Madrid’s celebratory spot].”

Saul Niguez believes that Atletico Madrid did not deserve to lose Champions  league final twice in the hands of Real Madrid.

“It’s very painful. This team don’t deserve this to happen twice. Once is hard enough, but to suffer twice…,” he told BeIN Sports.

“It was a match with a lot of intensity, and we were all dead [by the end of it].

“Next season, we’ll try to go for the Champions League, La Liga and everything else, but always while going game by game.

“We’re going to fight for [the Champions League] until we get it.”
