Messi or Ronaldo, they always want more – it’s like: ‘Okay, I scored 400, now I want 500 or 600.’

“Messi has five Ballon d’Ors but I’m sure he wants more.

“If you think you’ve reached the top then that’s the worst thing. Do I have a six-pack too? Well, it’s not like Cristiano’s.”

Having competition makes you play better, it’s like someone is pushing you.

“As a professional you don’t really think about it.

“In every match you want to do your best and help the team to success.

“It doesn’t matter if the gaffer brings in two or three more players – if you are good he will still play you.

“We are all good players. Maybe we need to play 2-8-0!

Everyone knows when they come to play for Celticthere is expectation, there is competition.

“Nothing is easy. You never get your place in the line-up easily. You  need to improve yourself and we have a good midfield right now.”

The first year wasn’t the best in terms of what I expect from myself.

“As soon as I understood the expectations and the way of the game in Scotland it was much easier.

“The gaffer told me where I needed to improve my game and what I needed to do. I worked hard in training until I got my chance.

“I don’t think I’m at my best yet. Of course you always want to improve but it’s much easier when all the team are on form and we play well.

“I just want to try to perform at my maximum in every game to help the team. And I want to show everyone that I deserve to keep my place in the side.

“We want to win all the trophies in Scotland, first of all, and of course get to the Champions League.

“We want to win every match we play. It doesn’t matter if that comes against Aberdeen, Kilmarnock or Ross County.”
