“We’re happy for the trophy. Today we saw a great Sevilla side, so I don’t know if we’re the deserved winners.

“I made the decision [of not starting Luka Modric] because I didn’t think he was ready for 90 or 120 minutes.

“A player like Sergio [Ramos] always makes the difference. With only a little time left, I told him to go up a bit more and ultimately he was right where he needed to be.

“Asensio’s going to stay with us. That’s my plan [for him]. When he plays, he plays well and I’m happy with the work he’s done today.

“I stole the ball and saw the space. I pushed forward and ultimately scored.

“It was important in a game where we spent almost the entire second half chasing [Sevilla].

“Our homegrown players have a lot of enthusiasm and desire to contribute to the team and today everything went well.”
