Former Bayern Munich and Germany  goalkeeper Oliver Kahn hits out at Cristiano Ronaldo for his lack for effort in Portugal 1-1 draw with Iceland  at Euro 2016.

He was quiet. With the role he played, he should’ve fought much more,” he was quoted as saying by Bild.

“As a player like him gets older, he must realise that it’s boring for us to always see the same image, this overacting and protagonism.

“He scored the decisive penalty in the Champions League final. Naturally he tore off his shirt, but for someone who has won so much and is so well known, he should’ve held back and also show some thought to the Atletico [Madrid] players.

“That would make him really great. Instead, he always does things with fanfare, and it bores me.”

While, Iceland manager Lagerback did not hold back following Ronaldo’s remarks about his side  , and has told Real Madrid to play better if he wants to win a game.

That’s like it is in football,’ said the 67-year-old.

‘You can choose to play the football you like. It’s very common among players and coaches that if they are expecting to win, they always blame the opponent.

Goalkeeper Hannes Halldorsson also took his time to remind Ronaldo and co if they had played better they would had win, rather than settling for a draw.

‘They have to play better if they want to beat Iceland, simple as that for me.’

‘You need to be a good team to get a point against a team like Portugal, who have been at [the finals of] tournaments year after year and have many millions [of potential players] to choose from.

‘I guess he’s just irritated because he didn’t win against Iceland, who are only 330,000 [people].’
